A powerful syslog server for Windows based computers, that enables collection, analysis, reporting of syslogs.
Features: Syslog Watcher is a tool that collects syslog information from a variety of devices using UDP or TCP. The stored syslog information is collated and can be used for analysis and reporting later on. It can download syslog information automatically from firewalls, switches, routers, gateways, modems, network hosts and servers (Windows, Unix, or Linux based), specialized syslog forwarders, and any other syslog enabled device or software. It has an advanced Vendor-Pack (available separately) that enables the user to define more than 14000 syslog messages. It supports both IPv4 and IPv6. Some vendor specific syslog formats are automatically recognized by the Syslog Watcher.
Collected syslogs are stored automatically and are available for analysis at any time. The Syslog Watcher is a powerful syslog server and scales well with processing times of less than 15 seconds for 1 million entries (the DynamicView feature enables the user to view lists with over 1 million syslog messages). The server can also provide the stored syslog information to remote locations. The stored syslog can be used for analysis and troubleshooting. The syslog can be exported to CSV or XML file formats. The syslog can also be exported to a database. Syslog reports are created in HTML format and include graphics such as statistics. The syslog list viewer can display in text or hexadecimal mode, and colors syslog messages based on severity. Notifications are available as pop-up messages, sound alerts, or email to remote locations, and notifications can be suppressed based on severity level.
Syslog Watcher has an advanced syslog parser, which apart from recognizing certain non-standard vendor formats, can also extra information such as Tag, Origin fields.
Overall: Due to its target area, a tool that is mainly for administrators. However, it does have a really attractive and easy to user interface, and so curious and interested users may want to download and try this.
